Amsterdam Top 10

So, here’s my Amsterdam Top 10- (tried and tested)

There’s just something about Amsterdam that has this energy that draws you in and makes you never want to leave.

It is super stylish, full of history, exciting, refreshing and has more brunch spots than anywhere I’ve been before, seemingly it has every element you need for a super cool City break.

Amsterdam has a huge place in my heart as it is where I met my husband 5 years ago. We are so lucky that after just a short 50 minute flight you are landing in such a cool city with so much to do. Luckily for us we also have some awesome friends who live there and can show us the hidden gems!

Here are my top picks if you are popping to Amsterdam (surprise surprise, my picks revolve around food and drink…)

I think it’s safe to say that even if you live there you will never be able to get through all of the cool places and restaurants the City has to offer…but one can always try.

1.Sir Albert Hotel- – @siralbertamsterdam

Our home from home for our trip. A cosy hotel with on trend monochrome rooms, amazing staff and one of Amsterdam’s best asian restaurants all housed in one place. Sir Albert sits in De Pijp a really great area for wandering and only a 20 minutes mooch into the centre and comes complete with kind, morale boosting memos on your mirror.

2. Cafe George. @georgeamsterdam

There are a few around the city but after a walk through The Vondelpark we popped to George W.P.A in Museumplein. Perfect ‘people watching’ hotspot.

EAT: Club Sandwich and Fries. SIP ON: Rose

3. Corner Bakery Amsterdam – @cornerbakeryamsterdam

This is a charming little spot in the De Pijp area. After coming across this place on instagram I had to get a bite of the action (pardon the pun). When in Amsterdam pancakes are a must. Here you will find some of the best and freshest pancakes you will ever eat. Huge statement but best to try it for yourself.

EAT: Pancakes SIP ON: Freshly made MilkShakes

4.Pulitzer Hotel- Pulitzer Bar. –

Well worth a visit just to check out the hotel.

This sumptuous darkly lit bar is the perfect place to chill after a long days walking around Amsterdam with views over the canals.

SIP ON: Your favourite cocktail- don’t forget to check out the cocktail of the day.

5. De Foodhallen-

Here in Cheshire we are super lucky to have Altrincham Market. If you are a fan of that then this is for you…So much food to choose from, live band and if you have time they even have a cinema.

EAT: Bulls & Dogs Hot Dog. SIP ON: Gin & Tonic – take a permanent residence at the Gin & Tonic bar and make your way through the menu.

6.The Hoxton- – @thehoxtonhotel

Super cool urban hotspot and watering hole for the cool kids. You can also stay here… oh and they have a Photo Booth and graffiti words of wisdom on the wall. Need I say more….

SIP ON: Old Fashioned. EAT: I’ve also heard the restaurant is amazing too, must try next time.

7. Van Gogh Museum-

We were so lucky to stumble across a Banksy exhibition at the Van Gogh. After studying him for years at university and with my love for the ‘unbeautiful’ it really was amazing to see his work up close and personal. Worth checking out what’s on when you are in town.

8. Bakers & Roasters – @bakersandroasters

There are no words for this brunch spot. So good we went twice.

EAT: Veggie Breakfast (because of the halloumi) add crispy Bacon.–  @weekday_stores

You cant really go wrong with shopping in Amsterdam. Take a walk through the main shopping streets and you will find some hidden gems. Our friends recommended Weekday- owned by H&M. A really unique store, with purse friendly, modern fashion influenced by Scandinavian style.

10. De laatste Kruimel–

Cake lovers this is for you! A recommendation from our friends, so we headed straight for this piece of freshly baked heaven. You cannot not go in after seeing the window of delights. Watch the baker make fresh muffins, cakes and bread whilst you indulge in your sweet treat.

SIP ON: Coffee ( must try for coffee lovers) EAT: Everything- I had a cookie fresh and warm from the oven, but everything looked amazing.

11. For good measure- check out PC Hooftstraat, the hub for designer brands. Its worth a stroll just to see the Chanel store made entirely from glass bricks!

There are so many more places to see… until next time Amsterdam.
